How a Session Works
From the first email to the final gallery download, here's exactly what to expect, including our plan for the Pacific Northwest's favorite pastime: unpredictable weather.

A clear, numbered timeline is one of our go-to moves at Rooted Coast Design. It removes the biggest hesitation a first-time client has, not knowing what to expect, and it makes booking feel like a formality instead of a leap.
Reach Out
Fill out the inquiry form with your session type, ideal timeframe, and anything you're picturing. I respond personally within 24–48 hours, often sooner.
Discovery Call
A short 15-minute call (or email thread, if you prefer) to talk through your vision, answer questions, and lock in a package. This is also where we start location scouting.
Plan the Light
I'll send a custom session guide with your confirmed date, call time (often before sunrise or ahead of sunset), location details, parking notes, and a styling guide. We also set a rain-or-shine backup plan, because here, weather is part of the deal.
The Session
We meet in the field. I'll give you simple prompts and direction — no stiff posing, no forced smiles. Bring water, layers, and good shoes; I'll bring the rest.
Editing & Culling
I hand-select and edit every image in your gallery with a consistent, natural-light style — no heavy filters, no over-processing. Typically 2–3 weeks for sessions, 3–4 weeks for weddings.
Your Gallery Arrives
You'll get a private online gallery to view, favorite, download, and share — plus a print release so you can order prints anywhere you like, including through my recommended local lab.

Rain is not a reason to reschedule.
Some of my favorite galleries were shot in drizzle, mist, and that particular grey-gold Pacific Northwest light that only shows up after a storm. Unless conditions are unsafe (lightning, high wind, flooding trails), we shoot as planned.
If weather genuinely isn't workable, we reschedule at no extra cost. Your deposit simply transfers to the new date.
Answering the obvious worry before anyone has to ask it is a small trust move we build into outdoor-industry sites specifically. It's the kind of detail Rooted Coast Design pays attention to that a generic template wouldn't, and it heads off a whole category of hesitant "will you cancel on me?" emails.
