Frequently Asked Questions

Everything we're usually asked before a session is booked. Don't see your question? Reach out directly.

This is a working preview of your FAQ page. Swap in the real questions you actually get asked. The accordion layout is one Rooted Coast Design uses across nearly every client site, for exactly the reason below.

An accordion is a small technical choice with real payoff. Rooted Coast Design builds it this way so every question stays readable to search engines while the page itself stays visually calm. Good for SEO, and good for anxious first-time bookers who read every FAQ before reaching out.

Documentary-leaning and natural-light only. I direct gently with prompts and movement rather than rigid posing, and I edit toward true-to-life color rather than heavy filters or presets.
Yes. I regularly shoot in Seattle, Tacoma, Port Townsend, the San Juan Islands, and the North Cascades. Travel within 60 miles of Port Angeles is included; sessions farther out include a travel fee, quoted up front before you book.
We usually shoot anyway. Rain, mist, and overcast skies are part of the Pacific Northwest and often make for the most beautiful, soft light. If conditions are genuinely unsafe — lightning, high wind, flooded trails — we reschedule at no extra cost.
I'll recommend two or three locations based on your session type, the season, and the day's light, and we'll choose together during your discovery call. You're also welcome to suggest a meaningful spot of your own — I'll scout it ahead of time.
Every booked client receives a full styling guide with color palette suggestions, fabric tips, and seasonal advice. As a general rule, muted, earthy tones photograph beautifully against Pacific Northwest landscapes — avoid busy patterns and neon brights.
Yes. Every gallery includes a personal print release so you can print anywhere, plus optional professional prints, wall art, and heirloom albums through my recommended local lab.
Portrait and family sessions: 2–3 weeks. Elopements: about 3 weeks. Full weddings: 4 weeks. Rush delivery (5 business days) is available as a paid add-on for any package.
Yes — intimate elopements and full wedding-day coverage are both available, detailed on the Services page, and can include hike-in ceremony locations with permit guidance from someone who's filed the paperwork before.
A 30% non-refundable retainer secures your date, with the remaining balance due one week before your session. Retainers transfer if you need to reschedule for weather or other circumstances.
Always. Well-behaved pets are welcome at any outdoor session, leashed per trail regulations — just let me know ahead of time so I can plan around them.
